Jim Brooksher

As an artist, Jim Brooksher has explored several media including oil painting, watercolors, acrylics, pastels, ceramics, graphite as well as pen and ink studies. He currently works in transparent watercolor and oil. He likes to add more visually exciting color to help enhance mood. This use of accentuated color has become his noted trademark.

As an accomplished photographer, Jim attempts to capture the subjects of his paintings at many times during the day and under various weather conditions. This helps present the "best view" for composing a finished painting. He sometimes starts a painting on location to aid in capturing a specific mood. His paintings of lighthouses, country barns, and cityscapes are either developed from initial drawings and rough paintings done on location, or from multiple photographs.

Jim is also a U.S. Coast Guard Artist.
