Google Search Engine Technology at Work for You!

GOOGLE: A great search engine. Just type any keyword(s) into the text field, and then click on any of the resulting links. HINT: To hone your search (to avoid extraneous garbage), put quote marks around any words that must appear together. Otherwise, you'll get results showing web pages that contain the words individually on different parts of the page.

GOOGLE IMAGES: If you want to find a REFERENCE IMAGE FOR A PAINTING IDEA, you type in the keyword and click on any resulting thumbnail image to see a larger version. (You can also access this from the main Google page.) Be aware that most of the images are copyrighted, but this is very useful for reference. For example, if you're painting a frog and forgot what frog toes look like. Google Images yields 20 pages containing 262,000 images of frogs to explore!

GOOGLE GROUPS: Create, search, and browse groups to discuss and share ideas, ask and answer questions, help each other, etc.. For example: GOOGLE ARTIST GROUPS

GOOGLE LOCAL: Find local businesses and services on the web. Just type in your zip code or a location, and type in what type of business. Google will show you several results along with phone numbers, addresses, mileage distance from you, map locations, directions, etc. For example: Here's the result of a request for mexican restaurants from Antioch zip code 60002. You can click on any of the results to get further information.

GOOGLE DEFINITIONS: Go to google.com and type in any word plus the word "define" or "definition" and you will get definitions. For example, if you type "define giclee" vs. if you simply type "giclee" you get different results, depending on what you want.

GOOGLE CATALOGS: Search and browse mail-order catalogs online. This site is still in Beta testing stage, so may not be the most current, but you can always call their 800 numbers to request that a printed catalog to be sent to you, or go to their websites (links are furnished). The fun part is "accidentally" discovering items and catalogs previously unknown to you.
