A Tribute to Roger Shule,
Antioch's "King of Arts"
Roger Shule has given up his scepter and crown and Antioch Fine Arts Foundation president to Lisa Clark (his vice president) as of March.
Since 2001, Roger has taken the concept of a group of artists coming together to support, teach and promote art in all its forms to a league of around 68 current members whose talents range from "outsider art - very fine art".
Roger did not do it alone (although at times it must have seemed so). There was a party at the Gallery last month in his honor with a huge turnout.
"Many thanks to Roger for his constant attention to the art league and the gallery. He seemed to be always on duty to attend to any Issues, large or small. But, especially, his enthusiasm and optimism has been an inspiration. And I'm sure that is going to continue."--Bernita Schutte.
"All I can say about Roger is that the man went to bat for AFAF every chance he could, in every situation he could. He also championed different artist's proposals to the town and the village on behalf of the artist, not himself, that I feel is truly the definition of a good president. He deserves a little more golf time! Thanks for all you've done." --Dennis Downes
"Roger is the epitome of the professional teacher. When I inquired into becoming a member, I was filled with trepidation because of a lack of training and he put me entirely at ease, showed me the ropes, and paved the way for my acceptance into the group. Thank you."--Connie Siewert
